Nouns
Parents,
In our Language Arts unit we have been talking about nouns. We have discussed what nouns are, the difference between common and proper nouns, as well as singular and possive nouns. I would encourage you to go through this powerpoint presentation with your child and discuss what you are viewing. I would also ask that you go a step further and ask your child something that he/ she may have learned after viewing this presentation. Also, please leave me a comment to let me know what you learned!
Thanks,
Mrs. Judy

Math Pre-test and Post-test for Week 1
Parents-
Something new that we are doing school-wide this year is giving students math pre and post-test on the math standard that they are learning for the week. Last week, we were working on the math standard: MCC2.NBT.2: Count within 1000; count by 1s, 5s, 10s, and 100s using a number line. As you can see from the data above, most students made a great improvement from the pre-test to the post-test. I will be sending these assessments home so that you can see where your child fell in each graph. We are going to be working on number lines throughout the nine weeks, so please encourage your child to continue to remember how to use a number line. If you have any questions, please let me know! Students, I am very proud of your hard work in math. Keep it up!
Thanks, Mrs. Judy

Welcome to 2nd Grade
Hello. My name is Ashley Judy and this is my fifth year teaching. The children that I come in contact with at school mean a lot to me. I love seeing their little faces light up when they can connect learning to something that is fun as well as rewarding. There is absolutely no greater gift than the gift of learning! I believe that each student can be successful and my goal is to make sure that each student puts their best foot forward each and everyday!
A little bit about me... I am a graduate of Georgia Southern University with a Bachelors Degree in Early Childhood Education and a Master's Degree in Accomplished Teaching/ Curriculum Instruction. I am currently working on my Specialist Degree in Elementary Education. Also, I am expecting my second child in December. I I look forward to us having an exciting year in 2nd grade where our learning will be "out of this world"!!
